We have come out a winner in the Best Technology Project category of the prestigious Travolution Awards, the largest celebration of companies and individuals in the travel industry of the UK and beyond it.
This accolade acknowledges a landmark technology initiative that we undertook for one of the most significant experiential tourism groups. The project is a textbook example of how a forward-thinking enterprise can make a strategic investment in technology to tear down the barriers of growth and redefine its future.
Our client is a large holding company encompassing multiple brands, ranging from legendary cross-continental journeys to luxury adventure tours and cruises, with the guest count standing at over two million per year. However, this business scale came with profound operational challenges: a fragmented, aging technology ecosystem in which key operating companies ran on isolated legacy systems.
The Challenge: Breaking down Silos
Prior to our collaboration, the client faced a ceiling on their strategic ambitions. The disconnected nature of their homegrown satellite systems led to stifled innovation and operational inefficiency. The inability to easily cross-sell between their diverse brands resulted in missed revenue opportunities and a fragmented view of their customers.
The need for a modern, unified platform was not just an IT need but a critical business necessity. The goal was clear: move past legacy constraints to energize the potential of unique multi-day packaged products and international sales and to create a superior booking experience.
The Solution: Unified, API-First Architecture
The solution included the development and implementation of a sophisticated multi-brand architecture within GP Travel Enterprise. We designed this platform to specifically address the fundamental challenge of fragmentation and allow the client to trade as a single, powerful entity for the first time.
Some of the key technical achievements celebrated so far include:
- Multi-brand core: A consolidated database enabling 10+ different brands to function independently and with a common view of agencies, clients, and suppliers.
- Scalable microservices: API-first architecture with more than 700 documented endpoints, ready to accommodate complex cross-selling logic.
- Global readiness: Ability to do multi-currency operations and handle international tax requirements to grow into new markets.
The project is ongoing and in its active phase of development, with more results yet to come.
Real-World Impact
This project is a live and active transformation brought to fruition using a hybrid agile methodology. In the past 12 months alone, we did a great job delivering critical milestones, including the setup of the core system and complex package configuration.
The new platform has already started to decrease the manual work in product creation and optimize the supplier contract management. By removing the walls between brands, we have helped our client to utilize their entire portfolio to craft compelling, multi-brand travel experiences that were previously impossible to build or sell efficiently.
We are proud to be the trusted partner of this defining moment in our client’s evolution. This award is a testament to our dedicated success team, our engineering excellence, and the power of a deep and collaborative client-partner relationship. The year 2025 is closing with a truly inspiring news announcement for our company.
